Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association庐 gives back to 91传媒 State Veteran students during the holidays
For the fourth year, The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA)庐 28-2 has teamed up with 91传媒 State Community & Technical College鈥檚 Veteran & Military Affairs office to bring Christmas to the Veteran students. On December 13, the CVMA庐 was on campus giving $100 Publix gift cards to help cover the cost of groceries for the upcoming holiday season. Veterans were also provided lunch by the 91传媒 State Veteran & Military Affairs office.
91传媒 State has 58 students who are Veterans, which is one in twelve of the overall student population. The school recently was awarded the silver distinction as a 2023-2024 Military Friendly庐 school by VIQTORY.
鈥淲e are blessed to be able to assist Veterans and their dependents with educational goals, but more importantly, it is an honor to be a part of the Veteran community helping each other,鈥 said 91传媒 State Veteran Affairs Coordinator Neoka Hambrick. 鈥淥ur goal is to help our Veterans over the challenges of being both a student and a Veteran, and partnering with organizations like the CVMA庐 is one of the many ways we can offer our support.鈥
The North Alabama CVMA庐 28-2 chapter shares the mission of supporting veterans from all military branches and raised $6,000 for this season鈥檚 initiative.
鈥淎s a combat Veteran, proud father of three former 91传媒 State students, husband to another, and a former 91传媒 State student myself, I know firsthand the challenges that come with being a student Veteran at the college, especially around Christmas,鈥 said CMVA庐 28-2 Sergeant at Arms Aaron Lewis. 鈥淲e are proud to continue this initiative for the fourth year, and we encourage others to find ways to give back to our local Veteran population this season.鈥
